An ice storm is coming...

I already bought propane and shelf stable food a few days ago. I started washing all the laundry today and will get all the dishes and stuff cleaned by Friday. That's when the temps are supposed to tank and we get 2+ inches of ice on everything Saturday.

That's probably normal for this time of year up north but down here it causes havoc. Ice will pull down trees which will snap power lines. There will be a thick crust of ice on all the roads so it will take a while for crews to come out and fix the lines. It's going to be single digits Saturday so that will make it even harder to deal with.

We aren't acclimated or set up for it in general. We don't have snow gear or clothes to be out in the cold like that. At least this time we have a back yard full of trees to burn if needed. When this happened in Austin we were stuck home for a week with no power, heat, or water. (We had some stored but living in a house thats 40F for a week was not fun.) We've got the water ready and enough food to cook etc.

The news changes every few hours on how bad it will be. Originally it was just ice and snow Saturday, then ice till Sunday, then ice till Monday. Now it's ice starts Friday night. Today I went to get the kids from school and every gas station and grocery store had signs out "OUT OF PROPANE". There are a number of people who live in RV's around here and use propane tanks for heat.

I do have to pause the TCG Player shop and eBay starting tomorrow because given the fact it will ice up, I won't be able to get to the post office till Monday or Tuesday. I expect to lose power sometime Saturday after the ice builds up and it probably won't come back on for about two to three days. Here's hoping we don't lose water this time.
